He has mostly undone his argument there but the whole thing is a illogical attempt to prevent identity politics on the left from eating itself. Ie. Is it more important to support Muslims or LGBT (or LGBTQ2S+ - see below) persons when they come into conflict?
Here is another example from another former British colony, formerly Fort Edmonton, the biggest city near to where I grew up and where I Iived for 10 years.

To summarise, the parade and at least part of the festival have been cancelled because "Shades of Color, an Edmonton group that advocates for queer and trans Black folx, Indigenous folx and people of colour" send a list of demands to the organising committee. These included cancelling floats and corporate sponsorship in the parade and $20,000 be given to this and another group.
When the Pride organising committee met to discuss this, they invited 4 members (for space) of the group to come. Instead they tried to bring everyone they could and the police had to be called. For concerns of safety and protest, the event(s) they were planning were cancelled.

Here’s a good one. In Brunei, the Muslim leader has just announced that gays will be stoned. The Washington Post believes that this is not down to the Sultan’s Islamic beliefs but rather it’s the fault of the British because we colonised it once.
Pretty impressive mental gymnastics at work for the liberal media there.
